My one-act opera, Sredni Vashtar, premiered April 4, 2010 at the San Francisco Conservatory as part of the Hot Air Festival. It’s a 25-minute chamber opera with single singing role, taken in this performance by the dazzling mezzo-soprano Roxanna Walitzski. Wolfgang Thompson was the stage director. We received favorable mention in the festival’s review at SFExaminer.com which noted that:the overall conception was definitely a high point of the afternoon...this is a composition that deserves further attention and performances
Sredni’s orchestra, which was conducted by Ross Ipsen, is a “one of everything” ensemble (string quintet, single winds, single brass), three percussionists and a keyboard player who triples on harpsichord, celesta and reed organ.
